Spring inspiration
Spring is one of the most beautiful time of the year. I’m really grateful that I live in such a beautiful place. near the river and forest. The birds are singing, butterflies are flying and there’s so much greenery surrounding me.
Each year I love to take a lot of photos to capture this beauty and use it as an inspiration for my art.
There’s a big and old apple tree in the garden that blooms beautifully each year. The blooming is only for the short period but it’s truly a magical.
Like I already mentioned, there is a forest few minutes away from my house. I love to go for a walk in the forest. The road leads to a little bridge with a beautiful view. It’s so peaceful there. When I’m having a creative block, I go there to be inspired.
You probably might have noticed that I often use Lilac colors in my work. There is a purple-ish Lilacs in my garden. They bloom only for about 2 weeks. They have amazing sweet fragrance. When I sit on the balcony, the breeze is filled with its fragrance.
Besides Lilacs there are various flowers in the garden. Some of it I plant each year and some of them are permanent flowers that have been in the garden for a long time.
I’m a huge fan of Petunias. There are beautiful pink petunias on the balcony.
Lilac inspiration
Spring is such a beautiful time of the year because of its blossoms and flowers. My favorite among them is the Lilac. The fragrance of Lilac is heavenly and brings back lovely memories from my childhood.
Each year I take time to sit on the balcony and admire the beauty. There are many different shades of Lilacs on my neighborhood so I don’t have to look far for inspiration.
I thought I’d share some photos with you.
Do you have Lilacs where you live? Which color is your favorite?
Autumn inspiration
These past few weeks I have been working on new paintings that are inspired by all the beautiful Fall colors. I have gone on long walks in beautiful parks and wanted to share the photos. So much beauty everywhere.
Will soon share a post with all my Fall inspired paintings.
Viru bog
Few weeks ago I visited a beautiful bog in Estonia- Viru bog. It has nature trail that passes through forest. It has an observation tower which has a beautiful view.
It was so much fun to explore and learn more about all the vegetation that grows in the bog.
When I visited the bog, it was quite cloudy but it made the photos even more beautiful and special.
Let me know in the comments if I should paint a series inspired by all the beautiful colors of Viru bog.
Why I paint flowers
My love for flowers started from an early age.
My great grandmother had a well tended garden with all kinds of different beautiful flowers.
Back then I was young and found it weird that someone could spend so much time working in the garden.
Looking back I realise that it was her passion and I still remember the flowers she had in her garden.
My second great grandmother grew roses in her garden and she sold them. It was her job. She loved flowers so much.
Seeing these women grow these pretty flowers definitely influenced me and now I have beautiful flowers in my garden.( see the photos above)
Working in the garden and taking care of the flowers fulfills me in a very deep level. It’s a meditation.
I love to observe the flowers each day and admire their beauty.
With each painting I try to show you what I see and experience when I look at these beautiful flowers in my garden. I express this all in abstract way, using texture, layers of colors and gold leaf.
I hope through my art the beauty and emotion of the flowers live on and they bring joy into someone’s home.
Colors of Summer
It’s the last day of June and I thought I’d share some of the photos that I took in my garden.
I love the month of June because so many flowers and bushes begin to bloom in the garden.
Each year I take time to notice and enjoy the beauty around me.
All of the paintings that I worked on this month were inspired by flowers and trees in my garden.
I’m so grateful that there is so much beauty around me.
Each morning when I wake up and go to the balcony, I’m greeted with the bird singing and beautiful views.
I hope you had amazing month and that you were able to experience a little bit of Summer magic.
Travel vlog- lake Valgejärv hiking trail
Earlier this month I visited a lake Valgejärv hiking trail with my friends. It’s located in the western part of Saue municipality in Estonia.
I’m so happy that I got to visit this magical place. I’ts been a hot minute since I got to explore new places due to the lockdown. Fortunately the situation has been getting better in Estonia and one of my goals for this summer is to visit as many new places as possible.
There’s something about visiting new places that brings out the explorer in me.
I felt so inspired after spending time in this magical place.
There were many information boards which pointed out different types of forests in the area and birds that live there.
The view from that tower was so beautiful. I ‘m actually afraid of heights but I always try to overcome it so that I wouldn’t miss the beautiful views.
I’m already looking forward to visiting more places and seeing how it influences my paintings.
Stay tuned.
Winter wonderland- beautiful inspiration
What do you love about Winter?
To be honest my favorite seasons are Spring and Summer but I’ve started to see the beauty and the magic of winter.
These past few weeks Estonia has looked like a winter wonderland and I thought I’d share this beauty with you and show you what inspires me during winter months.
I love to go for a walk in the woods near my house. I love those times when I’m the first person to tread across the freshly fallen snow. It makes me feel like I’m the only person and it’s very peaceful experience.
The sound of snow crunching under my boots reminds me my childhood and how I made Snowman and snow castles with my friends.
These beautiful winter sceneries inspire me a lot. I always feel like I want to start a new painting after a long walk in the nature.
Inspiration
I get asked a lot about what inspires my work.
I’ve always been a huge lover of nature. When I was a little child I spent a lot of time in the woods with my friends, exploring, climbing the trees, playing and admiring the beauty of all the plants and flowers. It was so much fun.
Fast forward 20 something years later I often times use all these amazing memories as an inspiration for my abstract paintings.
I’m really grateful that I get to live near the forest and river. Summers are filled with a lot of birds singing and amazing aromas from flowers. All these things play a huge part in my creative process. They inspire me and often times get me in the right mood to paint.
I love gardening. It’s in my blood. It makes me happy and helped me a lot when I had depression. It gives me a connection to nature and just embrace it. I get to plant and take care of beautiful flowers and plants. These gorgeous flowers have inspired my abstract paintings.
I love spending time at the beach. There’s something very calming about watching the waves come in and out. When I’m at the beach, I feel like time stops. I always leave the beach feeling inspired and fulfilled. You might have seen some of the paintings that were inspired by sea. They had beautiful blues in it.
My work is also inspired by music. It has always been a huge part of my life. I love to sing and play the piano. I often times get inspired when I sing or play something. I love to listen to happy and uplifting music when I paint. I have noticed that violin music does miracles for me. Especially Lindsey Stirling’s music. She has some really good songs. I sometimes take emotions from songs and transfer them into my paintings.
Besides music I get inspired by dreams. I have vivid dreams and often times these are very magical and I use them in my abstract paintings.
I believe inspiration is everywhere around us. We just have to be present and find it.
